Third-Party Design Vetting and Proof Checking — featured
Overview

What this solution covers

A design is usually checked by the same team that made it. Owners, EPC contractors, lenders and authorities often want a second, independent opinion before steel is cut or a drawing is approved. Shirsh Technosolutions provides that check for structures and mechanical components.

We review the design basis and rebuild the critical parts of the analysis in ANSYS Mechanical. Members, connections and foundations are then checked against the governing code, whether that is IS 800, IS 801, IS 875, ASCE 7, Eurocode or ASME. The client gets an item-by-item report saying what passes and what has to change.

The problem

Pain points we address

The owner has no in-house team to check a supplier's or contractor's design

Lender or independent engineer comments are holding up the project

Plan-check comments need a calculated reply before approval

The design looks heavy, and nobody can say whether the extra steel is needed

Nobody is sure the right code and load combinations were used

Our answer

What we solve

Review of design basis reports, calculations, analysis models and drawings

Independent re-analysis of critical members and connections

Wind and seismic load checks to IS 875, IS 1893 and ASCE 7

Member, connection and base plate checks to IS 800, IS 801 and the relevant overseas codes

Calculated replies to independent engineer and plan-check comments

Re-checks of the revised design until every item closes

Methodology

How we approach it

  1. 1

Agree the scope, the governing codes and the documents to review

  2. 2

Review the loads, load combinations, materials and supports

  3. 3

Rebuild the critical analysis independently instead of re-running the designer's model

  4. 4

Check members, connections, base plates and foundations against code limits

  5. 5

Issue observations marked as complied, not complied or needing clarification

  6. 6

Review the revised design and close each observation

What you get

Deliverables

Vetting report with item-by-item observations

Independent analysis results for the critical items

Marked-up drawings and calculation comments

Replies to independent engineer or plan-check comments

Closure report on the revised design

Impact

Expected outcomes

An independent opinion that owners, lenders and authorities can rely on

Errors found on paper, before fabrication or erection

Reviewer comments closed with calculation

A calculated basis for lightening a design that turns out to be conservative

Why us

Why Shirsh

We design the same kinds of structures ourselves, so we know where designs usually go wrong, such as a missed load combination or a support modelled stiffer than it really is. Solar mounting structures and trackers make up most of this work. We have also certified storage racking and verified parking structures. When an independent engineer or plan checker raises comments, we answer them with calculation and stay on the job until every point closes.
