Defence
Blast, shock, vibration and thermal simulation for defence equipment, shelters and naval structures, done under NDA to the customer's specification.

Industry overview
Defence equipment has to survive conditions that are hard and costly to test: blast pressure, shock, sustained vibration on vehicles and ships, and wide temperature swings. Simulation shows the design team the weak points early, so fewer physical qualification tests are needed and fewer of them fail.
Shirsh Technosolutions has worked on defence programmes including blast loading of submarine panels. We use ANSYS Mechanical with explicit dynamics for blast, impact and shock, and ANSYS Fluent for thermal and airflow problems in electronics shelters and enclosures. Most of this work is under NDA, so project details are shared only with the customer's permission.
Industry challenges
Blast and shock loads that act within milliseconds and need explicit dynamic analysis
Vibration and shock qualification to MIL-STD-810 and customer test specifications
Tight weight limits on shelters, enclosures and vehicle-mounted equipment
Confidential data, which limits what can be shared outside the project team
How we help
- 1
Blast and impact simulation of panels, enclosures and mounts with ANSYS explicit dynamics
- 2
Random vibration and shock response analysis against the specified test profiles
- 3
Thermal and airflow CFD of shelters and electronics enclosures in ANSYS Fluent
- 4
Structural FEA of masts, frames and equipment mounting structures
Key trends
Indigenous design and manufacture of defence equipment opening work for Indian engineering suppliers
Composite and lightweight armour in vehicles and shelters
More qualification by simulation before physical blast and shock tests
Shelter-mounted and containerised electronics with higher heat loads
